The Nobel School is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form located in Stevenage in the English county of Hertfordshire. ==History== In 1961 the Technical Grammar School was opened and shared a site with The Girls Grammar School on Six hills way Stevenage. In 1962 the school moved from Six Hills Way to Telford avenue where the school's own building had been constructed. The School wrote off to the Nobel committee, who confirmed that the Technical Grammar School could use and be renamed the Nobel Grammar School. The school began using the Girls School again, as well as the Telford Avenue site in 1968, two years later in 1970 the School changed its name for the third and final time to The Nobel School.〔http://www.ourstevenage.org.uk/category_id__70_path__0p63p20p.aspx〕 In 1983 the school moved to the former Chells school building leaving the Telford site to be demolished. In 2011 the new build programme commenced to re-build the old school building, this work was completed in 2013 and the school was officially opened in September 2013.〔http://www.nobel.herts.sch.uk/school-news/9-news/254-nobel-grand-opening-video〕 The school was awarded specialist status for science and performing arts in June 2005. Artsmark Gold was awarded for the second time in May 2005. The school has been a training school since 2000. Building work continued through 2011 and 2012.
